The first day is done for the 09 draft.   We knew what the first pick was before the draft even started.  Talk about suspense.  I was personally looking for the Redskins first round pick…they don’t have another one until Day 2.  They picked DE Brian Orakpo from Texas.  This is a good pick.  As much as I still want to strangle Dan Snyder, I have to give the front office a little bit of credit for making the right call and not picking some big name for a position they didn’t need.  DE was something they needed badly.  Xerxes (Jason Taylor) was a terrible player last year and a huge waste of money.  The defense was still 4th in the NFL, but they were awful at sacking the QB, and this is what Orakpo does best.  Hopefully they draft an OT tomorrow for some depth.  And maybe, just maybe, this is the start of a good run for my Skins.
